Ending a software or website vendor relationship is a technical and operational change. Plan it before access is revoked so the business does not lose data, domains, integrations, backups, or the ability to recover.
Inventory accounts and ownership
List domain, hosting, code, repositories, CMS, analytics, CRM, payment, email, messaging, storage, APIs, certificates, backups, licenses, and billing. Confirm which accounts the business owns.
Secure access before transition
Add business administrators, rotate shared credentials, remove unnecessary vendor access, transfer recovery methods, and record service accounts, secrets, webhooks, and certificates.
Export and verify data
Request customer, lead, content, media, configuration, documents, logs, reports, and integration data in usable formats. Confirm counts, relationships, permissions, and restore or import ability.
The data retention checklist and ownership guide cover related planning.
Map dependencies and cutover
Document DNS, forms, email, payment, API, analytics, monitoring, redirects, scheduled jobs, vendor domains, and support contacts. Test the replacement before the old service is closed.
Close cleanly
Confirm final invoice, contract terms, data deletion or retention, access removal, backup expiration, documentation, open issues, and customer or staff communication. Keep evidence of completion.
